pre-natal and newborn babies
Congratulations on your new baby!
With a diagnosis of Down syndrome things will be different from what you had expected. We want you to know that you are not alone and there are people across Otago who understand the feelings you will be experiencing.
We also want you to know that we know your baby is precious and has the same wants and needs as any other baby. We would love to help your family celebrate your new baby.
When you first hear that your baby has or may have Down syndrome typically the first thing you will want to know is what Down syndrome is and how will it effect your new baby and your family.
There is a huge amount of information about Down syndrome. You can find this information in books, publications and from many websites around New Zealand and internationally.
To start ODSA can provide you with an information pack put together by the New Zealand Down Syndrome Association. We can post it to you or organise to deliver it to you personally by another parent who has experienced what you are currently experiencing. Just let us know what will suit you best.
We would love to make contact with you. By phone, text, email, in person - we don't mind - whatever you are most comfortable with. Let us know how we can make contact with you by emailing or phoning (see our contact page) or fill in this form to let us know you would like us to make contact.
