Organisations;Who They Are; and What They Do

IHC
The Family NetworkThe Family Network is a not-for-profit Dunedin run organisation who are interested in supporting the health and well being of individuals and families.  They run support groups for families and professionals involved in all types of disabilities.  They provide advocacy services for those who would like additional support at important meetings.  Become a member to recieve their newsletters and get access to their library. 
Parent to ParentParent to Parent are a New Zealand wide not-for-profit organisation that connects parents and siblings together in a variety of ways.    In their words,  "Parent to Parent is a nationwide, not for profit organisation; formed in 1983 by a group of parents and professionals who believed in the value of parents supporting parents when faced with the challenge of parenting a child with a disability or health impairment."Check out the Otago area of their website for local information.
Disability InfoDisability Info is a Dunedin based service.  "The Disability Information Service is a not-for-profit organisation that provides information on disability and health related issues to the Otago region."  Their office is open to the public and they have available magazines, pamphlets, government documents and resource/teaching kits.

CCS Disability Action

Donald Beasley InstituteThe Donald Beasley Institute are a non-profit national organisation based in Dunedin.  They have an extensive library and much of their research is available

The Institute's mission statement is:  To advance the well-being of people with disabilities in New Zealand through applied research and education with a primary focus on intellectual disability."

Enable New Zealand"Enable New Zealand delivers a range of services for older people and disabled people. These services are contracted by the Ministry of Health, ACC and for some other District Health Boards." 




Community Care Trust"We are a not-for-profit charitable trust that supports adults with intellectual disabilities and/or autistic spectrum disorders in Otago and Southland to live as participating and valued members of their communities."

FriendLink
"Friend-Link was founded in 1992 to assist people to establish friendships and to belong to community groups with people who share common interests with them."

@Heart NZ"@Heart has been providing support services to children with heart conditions and their families since 1984.  Our practical and emotional support is vital for those affected, helping them cope with the day-to-day challenges of living with a childhood heart condition.
The services we provide include (but are not limited to) information, training, counselling and psychological support, specialised equipment, camps, family matching, social affiliation and financial assistance."
Continence Service Dunedin
The Continence Service provides expertise in continence management of both urinary and faecalincontinence. This service is free of charge and is available to all people over the age of 4throughout the region. Clinics are held in: Dunedin, Balclutha, Dunstan, Oamaru, and Milton.
